Meet Cassie
A few years back while teaching Kindergarten I had a dream of starting a blog to share resources and new learning. With two little boys and teaching K, I had a hard time making that dream happen. Now 5 years later, older children, and a new role, I am ready!
In 2010 I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement. I had ZERO plans of teaching Kindergarten but needed a few more credits so K endorsement is what I did. I had NO idea Kindergarten would be my first gig out of school! I started my career teaching K in Thief River Falls, MN. I stayed there for a year and decided to take a position in Detroit Lakes, MN teaching 1st grade. This move brought me closer to family and lakes country. In Detroit Lakes I was able to work closely with my mother in-law, an educator of 30 years. I credit her for my passion of literacy and LOVE of learning. She was a wealth of knowledge and changed my teaching immensely.
In 2012 my life changed for the better. I married Blake and Isaac was born. In addition to those BIG changes, the wind blew us back to Grand Forks, ND where we met. We built a house and I started teaching Kindergarten. In 2014, our family was complete and my little Samuel was born. I started the Masters of Reading program at the University of North Dakota. In 2016 I graduated and accepted a Literacy Specialist position in Grand Forks and continued intervention work until 2019. In 2019 I went back to school yet again but this time at Minnesota State University Moorhead to complete my specialist degree in Educational Leadership. I also took on a new role as an Instructional Design Coach. Since then, I have been busy learning from some of the best educators out there. I travel as often as I can and try to learn something new each day. I am looking forward to networking with you and cannot wait to share what I am most passionate about: Literacy.
